Abstract

This study aims to analyze family knowledge and attitudes regarding balanced nutrition for children and toddlers in Tanjung Anom Village, Pancur Batu Subdistrict, Deli Serdang Regency, and its relation to stunting prevention. A descriptive quantitative approach was used, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to 100 families with children aged 0-5 years. The results show that 40% of respondents had good knowledge about balanced nutrition, while 60% had limited knowledge. However, most families exhibited a positive attitude toward providing balanced nutrition (70%), although they were hindered by economic factors that limited their access to nutritious food. This study also found a positive correlation between knowledge of balanced nutrition and family attitudes toward providing healthy food to children. Economic factors emerged as the main barrier to stunting prevention, reflected in the high stunting prevalence in the village, which reached 31%. The recommendations include improving knowledge about balanced nutrition, increasing access to nutritious food, and evaluating existing government programs.
